The Junior High School and High School of The Kotronis International School celebrated the European Day of Languages by incorporating activities and presentations into their academic programme, aiming to promote multilingualism, multiculturalism, and a deeper appreciation of the Greek language, values that are closely connected not only to the philosophy of our school, but also to its everyday educational practice.<\/p>

In particular, the school had the honour of hosting Professor of Linguistics and former President of the Department of Philology, Mr George Xydopoulos, who spoke to students and teachers about linguistic myths surrounding Modern Greek, its distinctive characteristics, its orthography, and the proper way to study and approach the language.<\/p>

During the Ancient Greek lesson, students analysed the speech delivered by the distinguished Greek academic, economist, and former Prime Minister Xenophon Zolotas. This speech was presented in Washington on 2 October 1959 in the English language and was composed almost entirely of words of Greek origin, highlighting the fact that the Greek language and Greek civilisation have significantly enriched and influenced foreign languages worldwide.<\/p>

In addition, students participating in the Erasmus programme connected online with the schools of Ancerville in France and Hunedoara Nr2 in Romania, where they had the opportunity to communicate with their fellow students abroad. Finally, during the German language lesson, students took part in an online Kahoot quiz on European languages, with a German-language book awarded as the prize.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
