The Κindergarten

At the Kotronis Schools, the Kindergarten lays the foundations for the complete and balanced development of children. Pre-school and early childhood education is provided for children from 4 to 6 years old.

Our Principles

In our Kindergarten, we seek to build solid foundations for the all-round development of children and their subsequent positive attitude towards learning, respecting the uniqueness of each child. The supportive environment and encouragement develop in our students a sense of security. They believe in themselves and become creative and active. This is how they discover their environment and share their experiences. Therefore, children’s experiences and actions are the main body of education.

A family

At the same time, knowing well that the most effective early childhood education programs are those that involve parents in the children’s learning processes, we rely on close School-Family collaboration. When children perceive that school and home work in harmony, they feel more secure as their two worlds merge. We work with parents, respecting their views and promoting the principles of the school and our scientific position.

are Expressed

We understand that by expressing themselves, students can gain confidence, discover their strengths and develop a strong sense of self.

The Kindergarten Curriculum

is made up of pedagogical principles, which stem from the most modern research and theoretical data for the development and education of preschool children. At our school, the program is constantly being adapted and renewed. Its goal is the development of creative thinking, freedom and respect for individual effort. With the above, the emotional empowerment of the child is cultivated.

FAQ

From what age can my child enroll in kindergarten? Is attendance compulsory?
Children who turn 4 years old by December 31st of the enrollment year are eligible to enroll in Kindergarten. Attendance is compulsory and lasts two years, covering Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten.
Why is Kindergarten important for my child’s development?
Kindergarten is the first and most critical stage of education. It is where children learn to live and collaborate with others, build confidence, develop their language and thinking skills, and have their first contact with letters, numbers and the world of knowledge — all through play and joy.
How is my child’s smooth transition ensured during the first days?
A few days before the start of the school year, we organize a special meeting where the child gets to know the school premises, the teachers and their classmates, with a parent present. Our goal is for every child to feel safe and happy from day one.
What activities does the daily Kindergarten programme include?
The programme is rich and well-balanced: organized play, art, music and movement, drama, robotics and swimming in our school’s dedicated pool. Children also practice their spoken and written language daily through workbooks specially designed for their age group.
How is creativity and independence fostered in Kindergarten?
Our Kindergarten environment encourages every child to explore, experiment and express their ideas freely. Through group projects, dramatic play and educational trips, children learn to take initiative, respect others and develop as individuals within a group.
What curriculum is followed and how does it differ from other kindergartens?
We apply experiential and play-based learning through storytelling, music, movement and arts. English is taught 5 hours per week in Pre-Kindergarten and 7 hours in Kindergarten. Additionally, weekly visits to the school garden, cycling track sessions and swimming training complete a programme that is rarely found elsewhere.
How is English taught in Kindergarten and why does it start so early?
English learning begins early because childhood is the most suitable period for language development. Experienced teachers use songs, drama and creative activities to help children recognize letters, sounds and simple words. Classes take place daily in a specially designed classroom.
What applies to the enrollment of a child coming from abroad?
Foreign children may enroll at any point during the school year, even without a settled legal residence status. A birth registration certificate is accepted in place of a birth certificate, and all documents must be officially translated. Proof of permanent residence is also required.
Does the Kindergarten provide access to a school psychologist?
Yes. The school collaborates with a qualified school psychologist who supports the school community and contributes to the emotional and social development of the children. Her presence helps foster a safe and supportive environment, while guidance and counseling for parents can also be provided whenever needed, always with discretion and in close cooperation between the school and the family.
How does communication between the school and parents take place?
The cooperation between school and family is a fundamental part of our educational philosophy. Parents are regularly informed about their child’s progress, daily life, and overall development through:
  • scheduled individual meetings with teachers,
  • regular phone or email communication whenever needed,
  • as well as through the school’s digital platform, where they receive updates, announcements, and important information regarding school life.
Our goal is to maintain meaningful and consistent communication with every family.
Is there an extended day program available at the Kindergarten?
Yes. The Kindergarten offers an extended day program designed to support the needs of modern families while providing children with a safe, creative, and caring environment after the end of the main school program. During the extended program, children participate in organized activities, creative play, and relaxation time, always under the supervision of experienced educators.
Are meals provided at the Kindergarten?
Yes. The school provides a meals program aimed at supporting children’s healthy and balanced nutrition throughout the school day. Particular emphasis is placed on the quality, safety, and hygiene of the meals, while special dietary needs or allergies are also taken into consideration in cooperation with each family.
