Since 2001, the 26th of September has been established as the European Day of Languages, with the aim of promoting Europe’s rich linguistic and cultural diversity and encouraging lifelong foreign language learning. Once again this year, the Primary School students of The Kotronis International School celebrated the occasion with great enthusiasm!
To mark the day, students “played” with different European languages and countries through a variety of engaging activities, including:
Special mention should also be made of the vibrant multilingual atmosphere created throughout our school through Music lessons, with all classes practising foreign-language songs such as “Yellow Submarine”, “The Seasons”, and “Frère Jacques”, while also learning how to say “Good morning” in different languages!

- Mythology and Roman Civilisation lessons for the 3rd and 5th Grade classes respectively.
- Locating European countries on the map and learning their names in foreign languages.
- Creative art activities inspired by the Spanish flag.
- Designing colourful passports for imaginary journeys across Europe.
- Learning animal names and the sounds they make in different languages.
- Creating multilingual postcards and digital multilingual posters using symbolic words.
- Greetings and role-playing games in various languages.
- Watching educational videos.
